Biz-Pals,

The general concept of an information board could enhance ASP's membership's experience of a wider Al-Anon world - much like members of face-to-face meetings find as a result of Group Rep reports of local, Area and District, and world-wide Al-Anon functions.

My lifetime of communications experience is nudging me into thinking that it could be more than that. This new organization of electronic meetings into an Area of its own could lead to possible workshops, Area Assemblies, and even Conventions in our future. So announcements may be needed and a forum on which to post them.

I can also see this page serving ASP's membership with information about the group. A newcomer has to sift through layers of info pages to get to the tidbits "hidden" in the forest of all the ASP info we put out. If the Information Board were designed so members newer to ASP could look to this one page as an indexed source of where to go for info and links to existing pages it could cut down on confusion.

Running thoughts on the SC's suggested numbered points:

1. Announcements concerning new Conference Approved Literature
~ Also a link to the WSO's literature order page.
~ Short book reports on older pieces of CAL.
~ Links where helpful.
2. Regional, National, and International Conferences
~ Will there be "Districts" within our new Area?
If so there may be more local functions, too.
3. Announcements from the Al-Anon World Service Organization.
~ Links
4. Link to assist members in finding local meetings.
~ or some simple instructions on how to find them.
[Example: Search "Iowa Al-Anon Meetings", etc.]

The SC recommends that updating the Information Board will become the responsibility of the secretary.
~ The physical updating I presume since some of the content would likely be part of the Group Rep's job (literature as one example) or others.

The SC's opinion is that posting local and meetings would be too cumbersome and also add a more substantive workload to the person whose job it becomes to keep the website updated.
~ I think my suggestion under #4 or something like it would serve this purpose well along with a link to the WSO's find-a-meeting listing.

Hugs to all,
Jerry
