Hi ASPers,
Even though it has been a busy summer for me, there’s not much to report as List Administrator.
The good news is that my face-to-face meetings restarted meeting face-to-face a few weeks ago. Yay!! The Al-Anons are still reluctant to hug or hold hands, though. I hope that doesn’t become a new fact of life in our meetings. Last week, I attended an open AA meeting to celebrate my wife’s 39th AA Birthday and got some good hugs there. Good cake, too! 😊
Things in the Steering Committee seem to be going smoothly, which is nice and not always the case. We started meeting via Zoom early this year (I think); Anne O has been facilitating those. It’s been a bit challenging to get everyone together at once, but we’ve been mostly successful dealing with that technicality. The Zoom meetings have been quite helpful in getting everyone on the same page without the communication snafus that sometimes come with email. OTOH, there are issues that seem to get parked until the next Zoom meeting instead of being dealt with promptly. Afterall, ASP is an email meeting.
Some things never change, though. There are always members that don’t read the instructions. That was supposed to be guy-thing. I think it is kind of ironic how an organization of mostly women have such a problem reading the instructions. First, there’s the usual problem of members using “Reply to All” to post a share. Don’t do it! The server will bounce it every time. And this year, for the first time in 25 years, I’m getting notes from members asking how to post a share. That’s after we send them at least 3 notices on how to do just that, and every share has a note at the bottom on how to access the instructions on the website. FWIW, I still don’t read the instructions until after something hits the fan. 😊 Actually, it’s not surprising considering that we have 1,044 members subscribed as I write this, and that none of are well yet. In fact, I think it’s amazing how well our little community works in spite of the insanity that all of us have lived through and some of us still live in.
Love and SERENITY,
Steve
