[Businessmtg] Group Representative

Hi JoVon,
The Group Rep would be an Officer serving on the Steering Committee, so they would be elected by the membership in a Business Meeting just like the other Officers.
Please see my response to Alison's post for what I know about where this is headed.
FWIW, there are some rumors that some people believe that an electronic meeting should be able to join a face-to-face Area of their choosing. That does have some merit. Consider an electronic meeting that spun off of a face-to-face group during the pandemic. All, or almost all of the members are local, so it would be reasonable for them to attend Area meetings in their geographical area.
OTOH, ASP is an International meeting. While most of our members live in the USA, we have quite a few scattered around the globe. Would it be reasonable for ASP to join the Washington State Area because I live there? Nope. Besides, I lived in California when I started ASP, so why not there? And what if my wife and I pick up sticks and move to Wyoming?

Thank you, Steve, for kicking off this new topic.
1. I didn’t see in the description of this portion of the motion how the group representative is selected. Is this by election? Appointment of the SC?
2. Alison mentioned she was in support of the GR attending both virtual and in-person assemblies “here and there.” I am new and from what I’ve seen locally and online, there is a specific geographic structure of representation (chapter, region, state, etc.). As this is a virtual group with members everywhere, how would ASP be appropriately or effectively represented at such F2F assemblies? Was there discussion of this at the world conference? As attendance and the GR
