Hi ASPers,

I'd like to open my List Administrator report with a welcome to Lynne as our
new List Administrator, effective Saturday, May 1st.

Next month, it will be Lynne's turn to provide a report, but till then I
need to tell you what the Steering Committee and I have been up to since the
last Business Meeting.

Incorporation. The process to incorporate was initiated on March 28th. So
far, there has been only one delay due to some confusion around how much
money we handle. Someone seemed to think it might be in excess of $500,000.
That crazy thinking was put to bed in mid-April. I am expecting something
later this month.

List Administrator. Lynne and I spent some quality time on the phone going
over the various technical duties of the List Administrator. Additionally,
the server settings were modified to include sending Lynne a copy of every
email it sends to me so she has been able to look over my shoulder, so to
speak.

The Steering Committee has been discussing the history of problems we have
had with officers lacking technical skills for some of our positions. It
seems that some members think that serving as an officer on ASP's Steering
Committee is no different than doing the same thing in a face-to-face
meeting. This is quite inaccurate - serving as an officer for ASP is very
similar to serving as an officer at a face-to-face Area, both in terms of
scale and experience needed.

A related misconception that we run into is the thinking that a newly
elected officer can do the job their way, make changes as they wish, etc.
While we ask them on our resume form what they would like to see changed at
ASP, it is rare that someone actually says anything on the resume. It's
only after they are elected that we discover they had ideas on doing
something differently.

I certainly don't have the answer to these issues, but we're working on it.

Love and SERENITY,
Steve

Love and SERENITY,

Steve
