Hi folks,

I was hoping that we might have a livelier and more productive discussion on
this topic, but it seems not.

My experience with a wide variety of volunteer organizations is that they
all have the same issue regarding volunteers to do the heavy lifting - only
a very small percentage of members ever volunteer.  

While we have almost 1,000 members subscribed to ASP, it is a mistake to
think of ASP as having 1,000 members.  In truth we have about 200 members
that are active. By active, I mean that they share at least once a month,
and/or they are actively volunteering in a service position.  Of our "active
membership", roughly 10% hold a service position.  This is typical of most
organizations, so I wonder why we would expect ASP to be any different.
