   Hi Business Friends,

My thoughts regarding service and filling the existing vacancies in ASP
positions coincide with the ASP general meeting topic - Nothing changes
   if nothing changes.

While ASP is a wonderful recovery group, and was started long before I
joined, and I hope will continue long after I'm gone, it will take
strong service and adherence to the Traditions to keep it so. I am
always so happy to see new, enthusiastic people come to the business
meetings and often volunteer for service. Then I see some become
disillusioned and resign, or no longer participate. Some leave ASP
altogether, and some stay to participate in the general meetings.

To be honest, I too have become frustrated with my apparent inability
to get used to the recycling of topics and nothing seeming to be
accomplished or finalized. I have participated in business meetings,
f2f, in my home group, and at the district level. There has never been
an occasion I have observed where everyone agreed, and there have been
a few times where emotions and anger surfaced. In the end, there has
always been a consensus of some kind, resolution, grace and
continuity. Only once in all my years have I seen a person leave
permanently in frustration, hurt and anger.

Change is hard and resistance to change is not unusual. By the same
token, there are times when change, even subtle change, can help make a
good thing even better. Releasing my death grip on what always was and
daring to let someone else give it a go has often been a positive for
   the greater good.

While not intending to orate or preach, I'm trying to be tactful in
saying perhaps it's time to let some new light shine in.

   Hugs, Linda
