Good Morning friends,
Steve and I get a lot of the same information. We do have some crossover. He is listed as the ASP CMA - Current Mailing Address and I am listed as the GR. We are in different time zones too 😊. So a big thanks to him for sharing the information today.
I am on the east coast and was asleep when this information was shared. Today I am reviewing a lot of correspondence. It seems that the Area officers have been busy, but there are some gaps in the information they shared and now there are lots of food questions coming in from GR's. Until that is sorted out, I don't have much to share. I am waiting for the officers to respond to those questions and will update you when I have more information.
However, I will say that forming Districts seems to be a priority for the Area and the GR's and so this discussion is timely and I am grateful to Steve for putting it on the agenda this month.
I shared my thoughts with the Area on district structure back in August, and want to weigh in here as the business meeting looks at the options.
ASP is an email group, with members joining from every time zone as well as every part of the world. Unlike some of the other virtual meetings that schedule within a time zone, I don't think that we can easily join a district that is time based. I have already seen comments related to the Area meetings I have attended this year. There are people across the world that don't fit neatly into the US time zone model. We also don't fit into a geographic model for the same reason. I think that however the districts are formed, our GR volunteers will need to be willing to adjust to what is and that as GR's rotate, the districts stay sensitive to individual needs. A tricky balance, and an opportunity for service growth. Working towards the greater good - Tradition 1: Our common welfare should come first; personal progress for the greatest number depends upon unity.
I still advocate for districts to be setup by mode/platform/type. However defined.... an email meeting is elapsed time and so I would want to join others who experience the same.
Hugs,
Anne O.

Hi folks,
Below is a message I received today from our ne GEA Treasurer, Becky. I am forwarding it to you for your information, as well as noting that she says that voting on a budget for the GWA will be on the agenda of the next Assembly. I will send the GEA financial report/budget separately via the server and directly to preserve formatting.
Hugs,
Steve

Greetings CMAs of the Global Electronic Area:
As you know, we have recently held the first ever Assembly of the empaneled Global Electronic Area. The Assembly was informational and consisted mainly of our delegate's report on important topics voted on at the 62nd Annual World Service Conference.
As treasurer, I presented a report on actual and projected expenses for the Area through the end of 2022. An updated report is attached. This is not a formal budget but represents the costs we are incurring and will incur as we set up all of the technology, structure and systems we need to function as an Area. We anticipate presenting a budget for 2023 for a vote at our next assembly.
I'm writing to ask for your financial support as we set up the new Area. As you can see from the attached report, your support has already enabled us to pay for our delegate to attend the April 2022 conference, and to begin to function as an Area. But as you'll also see, we will need additional contributions to continue. We would appreciate it if you could consider contributing as a group and also read this letter in a group meeting so that your individual members can contribute.
Please keep in mind that any individual or group contributions to the Global Electronic Area are completely voluntary. No groups "owe" the Area any specific contribution, but if it helps, so far, 40 groups (out of 825 total registered groups in the Area) have donated a total of $4,734.79. This is an average of $118.37 per group that has donated.
And finally – I have good news – we have found an online contribution platform that allows us to receive your contributions electronically via bank transfer, Venmo, PayPal, or credit card. This should enable our international members and groups to make contributions.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for our support.
Love in Service,
Becky Campbell-Howe
Global Electronic Area Treasurer
