Hello everyone,

The Trusted Servants Report portion of this month's meeting is hereby
closed. We are now moving to the next item on our agenda: Should we
change the qualifications to serve as an elected trusted servant on the
steering committee by reducing the one year prior ASP service
requirement to six months.

As you can see from our trusted servant reports, we are very short
staffed on the steering committee. We have four of five necessary
positions vacant right now: Greeter Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and
Group Representative. While Anne, Steve and I are filling these vacant
positions, that is supposed to be a temporary measure. In our Steering
Committee zoom call in December, we talked about ways that we could
increase the pool of eligible people who could serve in an elected
position. One concrete change we would like the Business meeting to
consider is reducing the prior ASP service requirement from 1 year to 6
months. The elected service position requirements are below (I took
these from an email Steve sent the BM in November). The ASP service
requirement is met by serving in one of the appointed positions, details
of which are also below.

Elected Service Positions
* Are elected by the membership in a Business Meeting
* Must have at least _1 year_ of prior service in ASP in an appointed
service position
* Must NOT be a member of AA
* Generalized description of basic duties and responsibilities are
described in Motion 22
* Is expected to participate in Steering Committee discussions and
decisions
* Is expected to adhere to ASP policies and practices as described on
the ASP website
* Serves for 3 years
* Application to serve on the Steering Committee is made by submitting a
resume form (available on the ASP website) to the Secretary, either
directly or via any member of the Steering Committee

Appointed Service Positions
* Are appointed by one of the Steering Committee members
* One year of active participation in ASP is required
* Details of their duties are not codified by group conscience, but
instead have been established by past practice of ASP
* Steering Committee member is responsible for recruiting, training,
appointing, supervising and if necessary, termination of the appointed
service positions
* Includes:
* Daily Chairs (6-month term)
* Greeters (1 year term)
* Recording Secretary (not specified)
* All appointed service positions count towards qualification for the
Steering Committee

Since this change would be considered a major change to ASP policies,
this means we will discuss this over three business meetings (this is
the first one) before we are able to consider a consensus/motion. This
topic will be discussed under the KBDM process until the end of
Saturday, January 14th.

Hugs,

Lynne
