Hi All,

Jerry did a  good job summarizing a bit of this.  I will try to provide full
context.  This motion was discussed and then passed more than 15 years ago.

“It is moved that ASP send Newcomers Packets to new members that are - new
to ASP, new to Al-Anon and who request it.  Fulfillment expenses to come out
of the ASP treasury budget”
Moved by Emee, seconded by Steve - PASSED Monday 3/10/2008 3:52 PM ET

And while it is/was  a good motion, the implementation and follow through
was never fully established/documented.  Materials were purchased and the
work was assigned to one of the greeters.  I don't recall if there was any
reporting on this activity while it was in effect.  And while there were
good intentions, a process was never fully defined, that greeter left the
meeting and the materials left with her.  We have not honored this motion in
very many years.

***Fast forward to Motion 15, which was an effort to rescind Motion 7.
“I move that Motion #7 (“It is moved that ASP send Newcomers Packets to
new members that are - new to ASP, new to Al-Anon and who request it.
Fulfillment expenses to come out of the ASP treasury budget.”) be
rescinded.”
FAILED  (51% of 37 members in attendance voted for Motion #15) on Tuesday,
June 6, 2017 at 1:56 PM PST

So here we are again, 6 years later revisiting Motion 7.
***If we would like to support Motion 7, what approach do we take, is this a
separate position or absorbed by one of our existing positions.  How do we
execute.  Do we continue to support hard copy packets, or do we assemble
electronic packets?

So that is the background and I have also thrown out some thoughts in no
particular order.
