[Businessmtg] SC Eligibility

HI folks.... I owe my team members on the Steering Committee an apology. The three of us had reached consensus ahead of the meeting on the proposal brought forward. Suggesting a change to that proposal in the middle of this business meeting discussion without discussing it with them first was not appropriate.

The original proposal stands as the topic of discussion, I hope that the business meeting attendees trusts the Steering Committee to move forward with this proposal as written and with the best interests of the group and our fellowship always in the forefront of every action. Note: it is ALWAYS the business meeting members who vote on the applicant's submission.

For your convenience, the original proposal follows:
______________________________________________________________________

"What we are proposing now is that the Business Meeting give the Steering Committee the authority to waive the ASP service requirement on a case-by-case basis. What that means in practice is that if someone is interested in applying to serve in one of the Steering Committee positions, but that person does not meet the current ASP service requirements, the Steering Committee could decide to interview that candidate via a Zoom call to discuss the position and their previous Al anon and ASP service. If the Steering Committee UNANIMOUSLY agrees, we would bring the application to the next Business Meeting for consideration. The Business Meeting would still elect all Steering Committee members. If the Steering Committee does not unanimously agree to support waiving the ASP service requirement, then that candidate would still be able to apply for the position once they have acquired that ASP service experience."

Yours in service,

Anne O.

Good Morning,

Yes, this is a group conscience decision. In my previous email, I noted that the current state is not sustainable and so I am recommending that this proposal be amended and made time bound while the business meeting works to revise the minimum requirements of serving on the Steering Committee.

Hugs,

Anne

Hi Beverly,

I believe we are thinking that the Business Meeting would make a group conscience through a vote to delegate this authority to the Steering Committee. Steve/Anne, please chime in if I’ve gotten that wrong.

Hugs,
Lynne
