Hi,

To clarify my position: When I spoke in favor of lowering the service
requirement to 6 months, I did so with the understanding that people would
still be submitting applications to the Steering Committee, and they would
bring suitable candidates to the Business Meeting.

As long as that is in place, I am in favor of lowering the ASP service
requirement to 6 months.  I do think that people should have a minimum of
one year Al-Anon service before they are eligible to serve in any elected
position.  I just don't think it has to all have been gained at ASP, and I
couldn't figure out how to express that clearly in a motion.
