Hi Missy,
Bring on the SC involves being involved in the email discussions that arise as part of SC business. As well as attending a quarterly zoom call that lasts about a hour to a hour and a half. The email discussions are unpredictable in nature. Some months there are no emails at all between the SC, others there are a lot. It depends on what is going on at the time. Things that could be discussed are a difficulty one SC member is having with their position and wants the input of the SC. Or is keeping the SC informed of an autonomous decision that they made. Or we have a BM and the SC is discussing things prior to or during the BM, as needed.
A current at-large member would be expected to participate in those discussions and that is it.
An alt-GR and/or an alt-CMA would also then have the responsibilities assigned by the BMs group conscience, whatever that looks like, if that happens.
Hopefully Anne can comment on how many Area functions and alt-GR could expect to attend.
And yes, the SC does have the ability to waive the service requirements for any SC position, provided that we are in unanimous agreement. This is from motion 25. However, people still have to apply.
If new positions are created or existing positions are changed by the BM, I think it would be a good opportunity to email the recovery meeting with a notice of open positions. Which is something the SC can discuss.
Hugs,
Lynne
