Hi Jerry,
Been there, done that. At least we talked about that in the Steering Committee. My version was to assign each daily meeting a specific starting time.
If only it was that simple. You see, we are not the ones that listed ASP and the other email meetings as 24/7 - that was a unilateral decision by WSO.
As for the Area figuring out the that current assignment of districts isn't practical. . . I'm not holding my breath on that one either. The GEA was every bit as controlling and allowing zero tolerance for the GRs to make their own decision. The decision was made by the GEA leadership, a motion was prepared in advance of the Assembly by GEA officers and presented to the GRs in advance of any & all discussion. The GRs were given a simple choice - take it or leave it. Since the Zoom meetings predominate and none of this affected them, the vote was merely a formality.
So far, we have seen no trace of KBDM in the either the WSO or the GEA regarding anything about the creation or structure of the GEA or the districts.
I have no doubt that the email groups and districts experience similar problems. However, the WSO has structured the electronic groups in such a way that even our combined voice is puny. The fact is that all of the electronic groups in the world have but one voice and vote in the World Service Conference, while WSO has over 20 voices and over 20 votes. There are 69 geographical Areas in the US and Canada, and one Electronic Area (the GEA) for the entire planet, for a total of 70 Delegates which are elected by the GRs at their Area Assembly. There are an additional 21 Trustee (both At Large selected by WSO/BoD) and Regional (selected by Area Delegates) plus the Executive Committee. Lastly, there are 8 members of WSO staff. Altogether, this adds up to 99 individuals attending the WSC with both voice and vote; 29 of which are not directly elected by the Groups. A consequence of this structure is that WSO staff and the Board dominate the discussion and direction of the WSC, and only need 4 Delegate votes to kill any motion. Below is the list of individuals and their position that attended the 2023 WSC.
NOTE: Unlike every geographic Area, the GEA is not represented by a Trustee on the Board of Directors.
Hugs,
Steve

Biz-Pals,
> Silly as this may seem, instead of listing our meeting as 24/7, why not just list our meeting time(s) as 8:00am 12:00pm, 4:00pm, and 8:00pm seven days a week? Yes it's a work-around, which doesn't bother me a bit. Anyone signing in at whatever time of day gets the same opening and topic anyway so no changes would be necessary.
> I feel that once our electronic Area finds out that the current District divisions aren't practical and move to Areas broken by common languages and/or meeting formats, the WSO may eventually amend their meeting finder from just "by day & time" (the traditional way to list face-to-face meetings) to finding meetings categorized first under the different format types [email, phone, zoom, f2f etc.] Time will tell.
Newcomers would first choose the format which works best for them making us easy to find and again alphabetically at or near the top.
>>> I also think our GR should be working with the other email groups' Representatives (as if we were a district) during these infant years of being accepted as actual Al-Anon Groups. Surely these email groups face common problems and working together on this makes sense.
Jerry
