Hi Lynne,

I see two problems with simply telling WSO that we have 7 daily meetings, so
we want to be listed for each day of the week.

1. ASP's Daily Meetings cannot be ordered ala carte. Let's say all you
want is a Ceasar Salad on Mondays; that's too bad because we're going to
give you that on Mondays, along with a Double Cheeseburger on Tuesdays,
Spaghetti on Wednesdays, a Burrito & Tacos on Thursdays, Filet Mignon on
Fridays, Waffles on Saturdays and Cake on Sundays.

The reality is that VERY few Al-Anons go to a meeting every day of the week.
Most go to just one or maybe two meetings a week. Members that have been
around for a few years learn how to deal with the 40+ shares/day without
becoming overwhelmed. But, what about the newcomer that suddenly sees
almost 300 shares in their first week? Not just a few are overwhelmed; most
are overwhelmed. That is a real problem in itself.

By separating the 7 Daily Meetings into 7 individual subscriptions would
allow members of ASP to pick and choose which days of the week they went to
their ASP Al-Anon meeting. One day a week? No problem, pick your day.
Just like attending a Zoom meeting that meets 7 days/week, but you only go
to the ones you want to, we could do the same thing. And increase our
coverage on the WSO listing 7-fold.

2. WSO. . . if we simply told WSO we have 7 daily meetings and wanted to be
listed 7 times, there's a fair chance that they would see it as a charade,
and once we'd gone down that path it would be difficult to reestablish
credibility for having 7 literally distinct daily meetings afterwards.
Additionally, considering how many newcomers are already confused, imagine
the disaster for those expecting to join a Monday meeting, but being
pummeled by 40+ shares every day. I think we would gain little, if
anything, and lose big overall.

Implementation Overhead?
1. Make changes to the ASP home page and form used to process new members.
2. Establish new protocols for the Greeters
3. Create the 7 Daily Meeting mailing lists on the server
4. Notify the current membership of their options, and over a period of say
30 days move those members that wish to change to specific day(s) to their
days of choice. Members that did not chose to change, would be converted to
subscribed to all 7 days.
5. Submit the change forms to WSO & the GEA.

The only change that is recurring is the increased interpersonal contact our
Greeters would have with the new members - this is a good thing.

Love and SERENITY,
Steve

Hi everyone,

So I am a little confused. Are we talking about telling the WSO that we are
now 8 (or more) meetings in one AFG so that ASP can be listed at various
days/times on the WSO search engine? Instead of our one current
24/7 listing.

If that is the case, why does this involve any discussion of change in our
subscription model or greeting process? Can't we just tell the WSO that we
are one group that has meetings at 8am ET, noon ET, 4pm ET (to use the
example that a WhatsApp group uses - forgot who mentioned that) every day
and that be it? Do we have to actually CHANGE anything at ASP in any way,
shape, or form? I thought this was pretty much about making use of the
flawed system of the WSO search results. I mean, when I open my email at
11am PT on a Tuesday, that is when the meeting starts for me. That is the
beauty of a 24/7 meeting, so I feel that whatever days/times we list as our
meeting times to the WSO, they are accurate as we meet at all times. And we
wouldn't have to change anything at ASP. Am I missing something?

I also want to be very cautious about us making any changes to our
subscription model as it is hard enough for people to get the hang of the
simple subscription model that we have now.

And I agree with others who have mentioned optimizing our website so that we
can better appear in searches - I think this is something the SC can work on
over time. But we are short staffed. And I have just informed the the SC
that at some point in the next few months, I will no longer be able to be
the acting Secretary (I will stay as List
Administrator) due to another upcoming commitment. Which means that unless
someone steps up to volunteer to one of the open positions on the SC, one of
the other SC members will have to step into be Acting Secretary, in addition
to their current roles. Not a great time to be adding things to our to do
list.

Hugs,

Lynne
