[Businessmtg] Zoom meetings by geographics

My recollection is that originally Zoom meetings were not invited to be
part of local IG, District, Areas. ONLY as a temporary electronic meeting
could they continue to be listed on local listings. Over time, I think
(editorializing) WSO realized how much potential membership could be lost
in this decision. It was then decided that electronic meetings COULD join
area, districts, IGs at the direction of those entities. So first the area
approved, then the district, then the IG. Again, my understanding which
could be incorrect or not current.

This issue has become, as Steve and Lynne both pointed out, that temporary
electronic IG connected locally, were used beyond the IG level, district
level and area level. I have been on 12 step meetings with people from all
over the world. Some members from other areas became very loyal, weekly
attendees. It is hard to leave your fellows behind.

There was discussion for a long time that temporary electronics would HAVE
to return to in-person, become hybrid to leave their IG, district, area to
stay electronic. So lots of things happened - some Zooms returned to FRF,
some went hybrid and some split into two meetings. I personally don't view
the split meetings as double dippers, because at the time I was in a
meeting that voted this way, the electronic meeting was forced to leave
local status and register with WSO.

Complicated for sure. I think there are likely many electronic meetings
that could leave WSO registration and go back to the local service
structure, but it's hard to put that horse back in the barn. I'm sure the
dollar is likely talking here as well.

Hope I got most of this correct.

Missy
