[Businessmtg] Archiving

Hi everyone,

A few points about the latest procedural issues brought up.

First, the motion in Jan 2019 was simply to discontinue archiving
recovery shares. I briefly read through the shares in the Jan 2019 BM
and there was not consensus on purging the archive, which is why the
motion was limited to simply discontinue archiving shares and NOT
purging the existing archive. In fact a motion was brought forward that
included purging the archives and it was withdrawn and replaced with the
motion that is listed - simply discontinuing future archiving. It is
the purging of the archive that, in my opinion, makes this a major
change to ASP and requires 3 BM discussions as that is an unchangeable
decision. We can't have another group conscience in a few years and
reinstate the old archive. Once it is gone, it is gone. Simply
discontinuing the practice of collecting archives does not seem to me to
be a major change that would require 3 meetings since it could be
reactivated in a later group conscience, if the group chose to do that,
and the existing archives would still exist.

Second, while I understand Jerry's legalistic read of the founding
principles, we also need to consider the practice and interpretation of
those policies in the last 18 years. What Steve described has been the
practice at ASP since the beginning. Including the interpretation at the
time of the archive motion. Jerry was the LA and acting Secretary at the
time and the chair of that BM. His interpretation of the poll at the
time of the poll (Feb 4th, 2019) was that it had failed. I have a hard
time second guessing or re-interpreting that decision, even from Jerry.
:) If we want to change the way we interpret voting to only those who
vote yes or no, that should also be discussed as a separate item in a
BM, which in my opinion would also need to be discussed in 3 BMs as that
is a major change to current ASP practice.

I understand the desire to move forward faster on this issue. But I see
a lot of pretzeling to make that happen. In my opinion, as the current
chair of the BM, the previous motion failed. We are now discussing this
again for the FIRST business meeting.

Hugs,

Lynne
