Thanks Jerry!
As usual, Jerry comes to the table with a fresh idea that's also well
thought out. What I like about this idea is that it adds to what we have as
a path to qualifying as an officer on the Steering Committee while also
respecting and maintaining our historical paths, yet doesn't create a path
that is so diluted to be useless.
Love and SERENITY,
Steve

Subject: [Businessmtg] Suggestion
Biz-Pals,
The workload of the Steering Committee members, often doubled or more
because of fewer candidates, is a long-reoccurring problem, often resulting
in resignations as home, work, and ASP responsibilities put undue pressures
on our volunteers.
A part of the reason for insufficient volunteers standing for an ASP
Steering Committee position is ASP's prerequisites for qualifying for
office. There are good reasons for these "prior service" requirements, but
we are way past the point where our current standards are working for us.
Yet by willy nilly dropping these standards too low we risk having
uninformed or ineffective leadership.
I'm suggesting that we maintain those standards, but add a different minimum
qualifying standard:
- - - - -
"In addition, an ASP member who regularly attends - and participates in -
consecutive ASP Business Meetings for a period of [1 year?, 18 months?] also
becomes qualified for Steering Committee service."
- - - - -
This could well open up a new pool of capable and informed trusted servants.
Could also attract members with long experience in F2F service positions,
who, in the past have been unwelcomed because of our current past-ASP
service requirement.
In service,
Jerry
