[Businessmtg] Archiving Topic Meeting Shares

Biz-Pals,

A search of past Business Meeting shares would flesh out my position on archiving members' personal shares for retrieval by any member for all time. In summary it would be the line from (my resources are not at hand; I'm on a spiritual personal extended stay at my cabin deep the woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula without Wi-Fi, electricity, and all things modern) either our opening or closing:

"Everything we say here, in this meeting or member to member, must be held in confidence."

Further, as applied in my 30+ years thousands of f2f meetings, that guarantee of kept anonymity applied to members attending a meeting NEVER sharing what another member said in (in!) that particular meeting, even to another member of that meeting but who was not in attendance on that day!

It goes without saying that who was in attendance at any particular meeting was nobody's business either, and this guaranteed cloak of anonymity was the "...spiritual foundation..." of all of Al-Anon.

Then comes ASP's practice of breaking this promised anonymity by keeping what amount to minutes of every topic meeting ever held available in perpetuity.

As an ASP member for one of the longest continuous periods on record, as a past Treasurer, past List Administrator, past acting Secretary, and decades long member of ASP's Business Meeting I ask that:

     This ASP practice, which clearly breaks Al-Anon's promise of anonymity to all members, be reversed, that all past topic meeting shares be permanently deleted, and that present and future topic meeting shares will no longer be retained in any form.

Whether this is done with new motion language or re-addressing this topic by reconsidering the former motion which did not acquire sufficient 'in favor' votes (barely as I recall), please, let us return to Al-Anon's basic principle of anonymity. Thank you.
