[Businessmtg] Service on Steering Committee

Hi Business Friends,
Wow - lots of work explaining the Steering Committee and I appreciate it.
I served 6 months as an at large member a very long time ago and did
'nothing' - I didn't understand at all and to my knowledge there were no
meetings then.

One phrase that jumped out at me that bothers me, is where it starts the
paragraph "Serving on the ASP Steering Committee is the highest form of
service for ASP that is available to ASP members.

I can't adequately explain my feelings here, but as I read that, I
cringed.  I seemed to suggest to me authority, or being the boss, - I can't
adequate explain my discomfort, but that's exactly what I felt.  Yes, I
know - feelings are not facts.

I went to the Traditions and wondered if it's Tradition 2 - "servants....do
not govern"
or
Tradition 9 - "directly responsible 'to those they serve'..."
or
perhaps Concept 10 supports the suggested wording - "carefully defined
service authority" and I'm trying to make apples out of oranges.

In any case, I felt compelled to share my discomfort with the wording and
thank you for hearing me.
