I can see multiple sides to this issue.
I know that once I place content on internet it is out of my control.
I strongly believe that a permanent perpetual archive of personal shares is not in keeping with the Al-Anon principles of anonymity and avoiding dominance or control by individual members.
I also understand that problems may come up when the LA and SC might be able to handle the issue better with access to past emails but how often do we have issues with shares from 2006 that require attention? If a share(s) is deemed inappropriate, can it be removed from the archive? My understanding is that isn't possible now.
My concerns with the archive would be lessened by using a server that offers more flexibility and control over maintaining and searching the archive; if there is a reasonable administrative retention period; and a disclaimer similar to the one quoted form the WSO App is clearly stated on the Home page for perspective members, the ASP welcome letter, and on each email that is forwarded by ASP. I don't see it stated on the Home Page for Perspective members. I don't remember that disclaimer from my time as a Greeter and I don't see it on the welcome letter used by greeters that is currently posted on the website.
Thanks
Margaret G.
