[Businessmtg] My input on the Archives topic as a member ASP

Hi friends,

As the week comes to an end, I'd like to weigh in again on this Recovery
meeting archive topic as a member of ASP and not as your acting
Secretary/meeting facilitator.

As in previous discussions, my position has not changed. I continue to
support keeping our archives. I am keenly aware of our traditions and the
need to protect anonymity. As an email meeting our shares, by default, are
documented. ASP archives are password protected-available only to current
members. And we have members that use the archives due to challenges with
their email client. And of course, there is the Steering Committee's use
case when investigating a member complaint. Note that every one of us has
an opportunity to make our email address anonymous.

So, like others have said, there is room for compromise here.
Unfortunately, the archives are an all or nothing situation. Meaning, we
can't keep some and not others. Once deleted they are gone. I think given
the use case of the Steering Committee and the unknown numbers of members
using the archives, we could/should look at turning off the archives for all
but the List Administrator and founders. It may be that the Steering
Committee will develop some tech support to help those that have been
relying on the archives.

Hugs,

Anne O
