[Businessmtg] Member-At-Large Info?

Hi Ren,
That's because there's no more than a vague mention of the position on the
web site on the Founding Policies page, #12 . . . " two general members of A
Serenity Place."
The gist of the At Large position is that it is a 6-month commitment with
the same voice and vote as everyone else on the Steering Committee.
However, unlike the other members of the Steering Committee (SC) the At
Large member has no duties except to participate in any email discussions
that may occur, and attend the SC's Zoom meetings held 2-3 weeks prior to
the next quarterly ASP Business Meeting, as well as any other [rare]
meetings that the SC may decide are necessary.
The Steering Committee has been amazingly the last few years. Not only have
the current and recent members of the SC stretched and found ways to improve
the service they provide ASP, there has been a sense of camaraderie among
the members of the SC in recent years. One of the benefits has been a real
trust of others on the SC that hasn't always been there. It should be noted
that whatever we discuss in the Steering Committee stays in the Steering
Committee - period, no exceptions. The members of the SC need to speak
candidly about issues, and trust that what they say won't come back to haunt
them.
Ideally, serving as an At Large member of the SC leads to regular service as
one of the officers. Of course, there's also a possibility that some of the
current officers will try to sweet talk you into one of the regular
positions.
Love and SERENITY,
Steve
