Thank you Dawn, I believe that we are all free to divulge as much as we
want, except for at the level of press, readio, fils and TV.
How much we divulge personally, member to member is a matter of comfort.
And the respect of each others anonmymity is one of the facets that makes
the room safe. The fact that who you see here, what you say here, who you
see here stays here.
The anonymity at the levels mentions are for a different person. It keeps
principles above personalities and it assures that no one becames a
'spokesperson' for Alanon.
I like the approach my church takes to greeting new members. We invite them
to stand if they are so moved, so we can give them a welcome packet. If
they do not choose to stand they are told that if there are any newcomers
they are welcomed and invited to fellowship afterwards.
This reminded me of Alanon where there were no musts. I think if we chose
to provide a packet that we could offer the packet or 'invite them to
receive' a newcomer packet. That Al-anon is a anonymous program their name
and adddress would not be used for any puporse and that they did not have to
provide the info and could even pick up similiar information at a f2f
meeting.
