Hi everyone,
Thanks Beth. I hadn't really thought about the anonymity issues. I do agree with Dawn that we definitely have a false sense of security online, however. We are all traceable.
As a past greeter I can attest, along with Dawn, the vast amounts of information submitted when people request membership to ASP. Sometimes the request would be over a page long. While some are simply looking for another way to add an "easier" meeting to a busy life, others are feeling desperate and in immense pain when they find their way to ASP. I would have been one who would have willingly given my address in exchange for some hope, along with some information of how I could fix the alcoholics. :) Seriously, though, I think the newcomers packet is a good idea, if someone wants one.
The newcomer packet could be an option just as a link to Al-Anon to buy literature online could be an option. If someone felt uncomfortable giving their address, they could choose option 2.
Just my thoughts...
Love and hugs,
Kathy
