Hi Everyone,
Yes we had an OLA rep who had to step down due to some personal reasons.
The position was never filled. After several discussions with others in ASP
I decided to check into OLA and signed up as the representative for our
group. The reason I did not bring it back to the group at the time was
because my life has been filled and I did not make the time to bring it to
the Business Meeting. I also approached someone in the group who had at one
time expressed interest in the position and was told that they would do it
if no one else was interested. I let it die at that point.
It was difficult enough when we did our first elections to get one person to
stand for a position. If there is anyone here who is interested in being
OLA rep then please contact me directly. I will compile a list of those who
are interested and when we are done with this discussion regarding the
prudent reserve then I will put that list before the group and each person
can submit their resumes and it will then become a vote.
One thing the OLA has to do is have time to go through the archives of OLA
and bring themselves up to date on where they are at and what has gone on in
the past. Just like someone who joins our business meeting here would have
to do if they join up. It is not up to members who were here from the
beginning to go back and explain it all to someone else. I would not expect
that of anyone else in OLA either. They have answered questions as they
have arisen from me.
I would expect that in the beginning whoever the OLA rep is would have to be
willing to spend at least an hour a day going through their archives and
finding out what has been going on. Part of the problem with on line
service is people have no idea how many hours it takes for some of these
positions to be filled. Our greeter chair shared her workload in a
meeting...mine is similar. On top of that all everyone of us has a life out
in the real world to tend to as well.
There are no requirements for OLA membership, other than you be a willing
representative of your group.
Hopefully I have addressed all the points that were brought up in Emee's
email to the group. And hopefully we can proceed forward with our Agenda
discussion on the Prudent Reserve. Part of the responsibility of the
Chairperson for this meeting is to keep us on topic. So at this time I
would ask that while this may be a topic of discussion that needs discussing
you all lay it aside for a now and focus on the task at hand. I will add it
to the new agenda when the time comes.
Love and Serenity,
Dawn
