  1. What should we do with monies over and above our Prudent Reserve?

      a) Do we provide a newcomers packet to those who are new to Al-Anon
and ASP, this includes purchasing newcomers packages and mailing them out?

Hi All - I am not a big fan of providing hard copy packets as part of our
on-line process. I would much prefer seeing us provide the newcomers with
the suggested Newcomers meeting or even electronic versions of the packet
(would need approval from WSO.) I did look at the Al-Anon site and did not
see .pdf versions of the packet but noted that some other pamphlets are
downloadable. I sent an email and am waiting to hear back from the WSO for
their thoughts on newcomers packets in an electronic format. It just seems
to me that although we are a viable Al-Anon group, our services may not nor
need not line up exactly the same way a F2F group might. I do not get the
same experience at ASP as I do at a F2f meeting because the medium is
different and a little less interactive in the sense of real time
interchange. Both are equally fulfilling and important to my recovery
though.

I think that if we do decide to mail packets, we will need to add the cost
of the service to our expenses. I am not sure that this is something we
could or should provide on a consistent basis through monies over the
prudent reserve.

Just my thoughts - I will support whatever the final decision is.

Hugs,

Anne O
