[Businessmtg] Personal Opinion

Elvina, could you explain how it works that if a trusted servant paid their
own way to an Al-Anon event that they would be more pro-active in opening
communications with WSO.

It seems to me that if a trusted servant paid their own way to a 'fun'
event, they would have no obligation to be pro-active in opening
communications with WSO because the meeting had made a group conscience to
not take that opportunity to be pro-active in opening communications with
WSO.

As for making attempts to open communications with WSO, I've met with Ric
B., Executive Director, WSO personally on several occasions on the very
topic of how online meetings can fit into the fellowship and service
structure of Al-Anon as a whole. My meetings with Ric began in February
1996, BEFORE I started this meeting. My most recent communication with Ric
was in December 2007. I have also discussed online meetings with several
trustees, delegates and past delegates over the years. I've mentioned this
in the ASP Business Meeting on more than one occasion.

As Dawn has mentioned, she has also written WSO on several occasions and the
result has been consistent: WSO ignores her requests.

And as we have said several times, OLA-IS has written and talked to WSO on
several occasions in the last 2+ years regarding participating in the
Pittsburg Convention. The response has again been consistent: WSO ignores
their requests.

Since all of this has been stated before in this meeting, I'd like to know
where you got the idea that we've just been sniveling in the employees
lounge.

I believe the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over
again expecting different results. We have been trying to communicate with
WSO over and over and over again. The results have been the same every
time. WSO ignores our requests. WSO has done NOTHING in 12 years to make
the online meetings a part of the fellowship. WSO has done NOTHING in 12
years to provide a path for the online meetings to participate in the
fellowship or in the Al-Anon service structure.

Hugs,
Steve

I have been reading the discussion about sending a representative to the
Convention ... My personal opinion is that a representative should not be
funded out of our budget.. My feeling is that if a persons pay for their own

expenses, they will be more apt to be pro-active in opening communications
with WSO.

I personally believe that all attempts need to be made to open
communications with WSO.. including person to person, verbal communication.

All the rhetoric going on here in the business meetings will not further
openness and acceptance. It reminds me of employees griping in the lounge
about the state of a business and not taking it to the powers that be!!
'-)).. !! IMHO... Elvina
