Tradition 1:  Our common welfare should come first; personal progress for the greatest number depends upon unity.
 
First- I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to those who started ASP.  It has been a glorious gift in my life.  I have no doubt that when online meetings began there was a great struggle to fit this medium into the AlAnon structure.  Bless you for your service work.
 
Second- I'm not seeing that online meetings are being ignored or discounted by the WSO.  I've been reading in the service manual about them and a close friend is a past delegate who belongs to multiple online meetings and is a huge supporter of them.  She is the one who encouraged me to participate in one.  So, it may be possible that the emotional fight that occurred when online meetings first were finding their way is past but there is some emotional carry over.
 
Third- I previously offered to do service work for ASP at the International Convention, but have not heard any response.  At this point, I have every intention to pay attention, speak with Ric B., and do my own research on the attitude toward online meetings by the WSO, and learn more about how online meetings are fitting in with the main structure.  If appropriate, when I return, I may share my E,S, &H that I gain from this research.
 
Fourth- WSO employees are employees.  Of course, they are paid to work at the International.  I've been to previous Internationals.  I've seen them work, very hard.  I'm proud of what I've seen our WSO employees do.  Perfectly?  No.  But I can't imagine working with a worldwide fellowship like ours, with such strong personalities that are practicing recovery.
 
So, Tradition 1 has taught me, I have a voice and a right to be heard. I am of the opinion that ASP should not send a representative for our group to the International Convention.
 
But our common good should come first.  If this group decides to send one - I've learned that there is not only one correct answer or solution.  Nothing is really black or white.  The group may decide to send one and nobody will die - but if our common good is not attended to, harm may come to ASP and then my personal progress will be harmed.
 
My deepest love to all, those who have had the courage to use their voice, and those who have listened and to all of us for wanting to learn and do the right thing.
 
Prayer to my HP will get me out of my self will and will help me keep the common good of ASP primary.
