[Businessmtg] Greeting

Hi All,

Since I have been the greeter at ASP for the past year, I thought I would provide some of my experiences.

Greeting is an incredibly rewarding service position. There are some difficult times with it, as I would imagine there are with any service post, but I have learned a lot and was very priviledged to have two incredibly supportive people behind me--Thank you Dawn and Tara!!

I imagine that the "requirements" may seem to be overwhelming to some but it typically doesn't take a lot of time. I incorporated my greeting time into my routine, much the same way I have incorporated my meetings, meditation, journaling and reading the ASP shares. And, similarly to our ASP Shares, I find days and periods (and there are always upticks around some "difficult" times) that are very light and others that require a bit more time.

So, maybe if we are recruiting for new greeters or chairs, it might be helpful to have a meeting in which the outgoing greeters or chairs share on their experience and what they learned and how the incorporated the position into a busy life.

For me, during an often very chaotic year for me, the time I spent greeting was like having another mini-meeting a few times a day and it certainly helped me keep myself grounded. Well, that and the incredible guidance and support I received and felt from Tara and Dawn.

Thank you for letting me greet and for letting me share!

Hugs,
Denise
