I would like to THANK Kathy for the update on her progress regarding transfer of the Treasury including that we now have a new Post Office box and bank account.
For those of you who are new to the business meeting, feel free to browse the Business Meeting web page, as many of the things that you are talking about are documented on those pages, including all of the group conscience decisions since 2006 when went from one man in his living room doing it all (Thanks Steve) to a group that has a service structure and trusted servants to do the things needed to be done to keep this meeting operating. All of the information regarding the Business of ASP can be found on our Members Only website under the heading "Our Business Meeting" and I recommend that those who are new to this meeting read those pages and then if they have any questions, please ask me or the List Administrator your questions. We will do our best to answer them promptly and there may be time at the end of this business meeting to post those questions and answers to the business meeting.
As you can see from the discussions that have taken place, we are revisiting the history of the business meeting, what happened and so on. This is not on the agenda of the meeting. The agenda for this business meeting is to work towards filling the positions on the Steering Committee that people are rotating out of.
The next position that we are looking to fill is that of Secretary of the meeting.
The duties of the secretary are:
1. Chair the Business Meeting
2. Responsible for the Daily Chairpersons in the ASP meeting
a. Appoint the daily chairpersons to a 6 month position
b. Instruct/train the daily chairpersons
3. Record the Group Consciences of the Business Meeting (and send them to the Web Master to be posted on the Business Meeting web pages
4. Are the 1st Alternate for the List Administrator position, so they work closely with the List Administrator to learn the behind the scenes operations of the meeting.
If you are interested in applying for the Secretary position, please go to the Business web page and fill out your resume using the word document on that page. Once you have completed that, please email it directly to me and I will post it to the business meeting. The server does not allow attachments to be posted to the meeting, which serves as a means of virus protection for all of our members, which is why I am requesting you forward your resume to me.
Also, we suggest a minimum of three months of active participation before a member of A Serenity Place make themselves available for one of the meeting's service positions. Our experience has shown that it takes time for members to understand the way a particular meeting works. We believe that a trusted servant's focus should be on serving the meeting the way the meeting is accustomed to being served, rather than trying to make any significant changes to the meeting.
