[Businessmtg] the job

This is my perspective....I thought twice about volunteering at all because
the length of the commitment for most duties for this group was (in my
opinion) too long. I considered the list admin position. But because it was
a three year commitment, I just didn't want to do it. However, I wanted to
give back and after much consideration, I decided to volunteer as a meeting
chair. It will be a stretch for me because the length of service is six
months.
While I understand that this meeting is different than face to
face meetings, we have to be realistic about what people will commit to. For
example, the average length of service for a group rep in my area is one
year; for a meeting chair, it's one month. The treasurer position can be
anything from three months to one year.

I suggest reviewing the length of time as well as the service duties to see
if there are any adjustments that can be made. Then appeal to the group
again.

Thanks,
Rose
