[Businessmtg] Officer Requirements

I feel that six months of active membership in ASP should be required for
serving as an officer in addition to at least one year of active
participation in face to face meetings. However, what active
participation/membership means needs to be defined.

As a daily chairperson, I was invited and allowed to serve after only three
months of ASP membership. I honestly felt that I understood how this online
version of the program worked at that time. I also understood how meetings
operated as I have chaired face to face meetings in the past. In addition, I
had nine years of Al-Anon experience behind me.

My point is that if we increase the amount of time one needs to participate,
then we discourage others from practicing Twelfth Step service in this
organization.

If our goal is to prevent people who do not have a clear understanding of
the program from acting as trusted servants, then we do not need to vote for
them when their name is placed on a ballot.
