[Businessmtg] ATTN: motion seconded....

Hi Emee,

We do not post full names on our websites. I am offering 2 links to the
group for review.

http://www.asp-afg.org/ASP/Business/Trusted_Servants.htm

http://www.asp-afg.org/ASP/Business/Meeting_Schedule.htm

In the service manual at the bottom of page 74 there are a couple of
paragraphs about anonymity and service. It starts with "At the service
level (Group representatives, District Representatives, WSO, etc.)it is
practical to use full names and addresses to facilitate
communication..."

When I was GR for my home group, I was aware in advance, that I was
giving up my anonymity as a member of the program. I knew that if I
wanted to participate in service at that level I would need to share
that part of me. My sharing and personal details remained anonymous. I
always had a choice to not participate in that level of service.

Please note that our meeting chairs are not being asked to give their
full names, as stated in earlier emails, that type of service is a
valuable piece of the meeting and keeps us going each day. It is not an
administrative position that is outward facing.

Hugs...

Hi All,

I know that I may sound silly but I disagree with the need to make our
last names available on line. We have people in and out of ASP and it
would be very easy for any of them to get our real name and address and
phone numbers this way.

In our Al-Anon pamphlet S-66 F.A.Q. for Al-Anon Web Sites, on page 7 it
says............

Please observe all Al-Anoin's principles and Traditions on Web sites.
As "anonymity" is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions,
"personal anonymity is maintained on Al-Anon Web sites at all times. An
Al-Anon Web site is a public medium that has the potintial for reaching
the broadest possible audience and therefore, reqwuires the same
safeguards that aare used at the level of press, radio, films, and TV.
A review of the Anonymity section in the Policy Digest part of
Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual is also advised.

Information on our Web sites is to let people know how to get in touch
with us. At the same time, in order to preserve personal anonymity,
full names are not given.

I know that if I put my full name into a the computer I can get a lot of
information about myself, age, spouce's name, kids names, income,
address, phone numbers. I am just careful about this but it doesn't
matter to everyone. I just think that it might limit members who might
want to do service for ASP but care about their anonymity. Just a
thought.

Emee
