Hello Trusted Servants, 

Thank you for your service to ASP. I appreciate learning more about the history of ASP and the growing pains of internet recovery groups within Al-Anon. I also appreciate the courage and honesty of those who serve the group by sharing their experience and wisdom in the business meeting. I do not consider business meetings easy! 

This is my first ASP business meeting, so please excuse any ignorance of facts or procedures. 

Based on what I have been reading so far, I strongly support prompt action to keep the balance of excess funds in our account to a minimum. 

Since it seems our group has not yet arrived at a votable consensus regarding the possible disbursement of ASP funds to OLA-IS, I think in the meantime we should give our surplus money to the World Service Office. That is a channel that is open and is clearly Al-Anon, and we need SOMEWHERE to put the money! 

This way, we avoid the problems that can arise when a group hoards funds over and above what it needs to function. The existence of excess funds has the potential to "divert us from our primary spiritual aim" and can pose a threat to group unity. 

I hope we can divest ourselves of surplus money on a timely ongoing basis, and that we don't postpone such action as we wait for consensus on an issue that may take a long time to achieve. For the health of this group, we need to consider these as two separate issues.
