Hi ASPers,
I guess I have four questions for BOTH Cyndi and Sandie - please respond to
all three questions.
1. Cyndi suggested the idea of a 'partner site' - sort of an after the
meeting meeting. Would a 'chat room' serve that function? What do each of
you think the benefits might be as well as the potential problems?
2. Sandie made a couple of references to the importance of web sites being
kept current and how that is a high priority for her, and how the ASP web
site is our first introduction to online Al-Anon. Perhaps it's me, but I'm
hearing an inference that our web site - especially the public section
available to newcomers - is not up to date. If that's correct, then I'd
like to hear what your ideas on what needs updating and how it should be vs.
how it is now.
3. Sandie also responded to two questions on the resume form with
references to the guidelines:
What changes do you NOT want to see occur at ASP?
___I do not want to see ASP not following the guidelines that have been set
up.
How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP?

My question is in two parts:
A. Are you referring to ASP's guidelines or to WSO's guidelines?
B. If there seems to be a conflict between a direct/simple interpretation
of the Traditions and the Guidelines published by WSO, which takes
precedence?

Since my Thursday meeting service ended in July, I have missed doing service
beyond regular daily

feel I have the basic technical knowledge

Technology as a profession, and have
Plenty of local resources to help me if I need it.

What changes would you like to see in ASP?
In general: I think ASP is a very well-run group and I
appreciate the efforts to maintain adherence
To the traditions and concepts of a well-functioning AlAnon meeting.
Sometimes I think there may be some
Benefit to establishing a 'partner' site, for more 'off topic' sharing and
general socializing for members
Who would be comfortable participating. Perhaps something
Like an 'After The Meeting' email group.

a F2F Alanon meeting
And I would not want to see that change!
In what way do you feel you participate or contribute to the group?
My participation in ASP has been life changing and pivotal in my recovery!
I found my sponsor through this
Group, and also am honored to now have two sponsees within the group. I try
to share daily and follow the guidelines
As much as I know. I also reply privately to many with my ESH because I
feel it's important to share.
How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP?

I have been impressed with the quality of this group from the beginning. I
have tried several online groups and after
A month, settled here at ASP as my primary online group.
Do you have technical or other experience that you feel is significant for
this position?
My day job is administrative in IT for a large law firm. Although I am not
a full-blown technology guru, I am fortunate to have
Many skills by virtue of working with technology every day. I also write
and maintain a personal blog, so I have basic skills in publishing and
updating online
Content.
Describe your concept of how much time you have available to serve ASP and
how accessible you are to the other members of the Steering Committee and
the general membership of ASP.
I will make myself available in whatever capacity is needed to
continue the good work that has been done before. My work for this role
will be done in evenings and weekends. I have a personal laptop that I can
take to work to do work on my lunch hour if necessary.
Any thing else that you would like to say . . .
Although I do not have quite the service experience within ASP, I believe I
am a good fit for this role. I am a quick learner and would always put
priority
To the needs of the Webmaster role. Being of service in this way helps my
recovery as I recognize the importance of keeping things going behind the
scenes
So that all members continue to grow in their participation at ASP. This
role would fill my need to be 'needed' in a healthy way!

____I have used computers for many years - I do not have any
great technical experience - I am usually able to pick up technical matters
quickly. As you will have noted from my resume that my F2F Al-Anon
experience is very strong and I am committed on on-line Al-Anon.

______I am retired from a major Canadian financial Institution
where I worked for 30 years most recently as a Senior Financial Advisor.
I do travel however having internet connections available is always a
priority and I am seldom out of contact. Most days 3-5 hours per day are

__Web-sites that are not kept current has always been a pet
peeve of mine and I had always hoped to do some volunteer work in this type
of capacity at some point after I retired
. _____ASP has been there for me through a number of tough situations. It
has gone with me around the world and to remote parts of Mexico and I am
committed to ensuring that it is available to potential members. I believe
that in the next few years more and more people throughout the world will be
finding Al-Anon Family Groups through the internet.
