[Businessmtg] FW: Webmaster Position

Hi ASPers,
One more question occurred to me . . .
NOTE: While it appears that the primary duty of the Web Master is the
administrative duty of running the web site, the more important
responsibility is serving as one of the officers of ASP, just like a GR is
an officer of a F2F group. The officers of ASP are members of the Steering
Committee, and as such work together discretely on the myriad of issues that
face our meeting. Discretely being one of the key words here - the officers
of ASP need to know that the discussions in the Steering Committee remain in
the Steering Committee and are not disclosed or discussed outside of the
Steering Committee, not even in a general way.
The Service Manual states that Delegates are not permitted to serve GRs or
DRs while serving as Delegate. Since the Regional Trustees are nominated by
their Area from among their Area's Past Delegates, and are then
'traditionally approved' by the World Service Conference (primarily current
Delegates) and then elected by the existing Board of Trustees (primarily
Past Delegates), it seems to me that it is similarly inappropriate for a
standing Trustee to serve as a GR.
While I found nothing in the Service Manual prohibiting a Trustee from
serving as an officer of a meeting, it seems to me that there is a real
potential for a conflict of interest between the legal & Traditional
responsibilities of a Trustee and the legal & Traditional responsibilities
of an officer of our online meeting.
So, my question to Sandie is once again a two-parter:
a. Could you separate your interest/position as a Trustee from the position
of a officer of ASP; keeping the best interest of the organization at hand
without being affected by your other position?
b. Could you keep business issues & Steering Committee discussions &
decisions of ASP absolutely confidential.
Hugs,
Steve

Hi ASPers,
I guess I have four questions for BOTH Cyndi and Sandie - please respond to
all three questions.
1. Cyndi suggested the idea of a 'partner site' - sort of an after the
meeting meeting. Would a 'chat room' serve that function? What do each of
you think the benefits might be as well as the potential problems?
2. Sandie made a couple of references to the importance of web sites being
kept current and how that is a high priority for her, and how the ASP web
site is our first introduction to online Al-Anon. Perhaps it's me, but I'm
hearing an inference that our web site - especially the public section
available to newcomers - is not up to date. If that's correct, then I'd
like to hear what your ideas on what needs updating and how it should be vs.
how it is now.
3. Sandie also responded to two questions on the resume form with
references to the guidelines:
What changes do you NOT want to see occur at ASP?
___I do not want to see ASP not following the guidelines that have been set
up.
How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP?
[refer to http://www.asp-afg.org/ASP/Business/ASP_INFO.htm]
____The guidelines are in place to ensure that we meet the requirements for
a on-line Al-Anon meeting.
My question is in two parts:
A. Are you referring to ASP's guidelines or to WSO's guidelines?
B. If there seems to be a conflict between a direct/simple interpretation
of the Traditions and the Guidelines published by WSO, which takes
precedence?
Thanks and Hugs,
Steve

Al-Anon Resume for Steering Committee at ASP
Date: __9-10-11
Name: Cyndi K(real name, no pseudonyms or screen names)
Email Address odat925 at gmail.com
Service Position in ASP you are available for: Webmaster
Al-Anon Birthday: December 19, 2009 Years: Almost two
ASP Birthday: April or May 2010 (NOT SURE?) Years: 1.5
One year's participation in ASP is a prerequisite to serving as an officer
of ASP. Participation may take many forms, but merely having one's email
address on the ASP server is not participation.
Service Positions held in Al-Anon:
A member of ASP must have served ASP in some other service capacity for 1
year in addition to any other minimum qualifications for ASP Officers.
Face-to-Face Al-Anon: ______________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________
ASP: Thursday slogan chair December 2009 - July 2010
Online Al-Anon other than ASP: _______________________________________
__________________________________________________________________
Members of Al-Anon who are also members of AA are not eligible to serve as
officers of ASP or on the Steering Committee
Are you a member of AA? No
Why would you like to serve ASP in this position? Doing service for ASP
keeps me connected to the group.
Since my Thursday meeting service ended in July, I have missed doing service
beyond regular daily
Participation. There is also a strong need to fill this position, and I
feel I have the basic technical knowledge
And the ability to learn what I need to learn. I also work in Information
Technology as a profession, and have
Plenty of local resources to help me if I need it.
_______________________________________________________________________
What changes would you like to see in ASP?
In general: I think ASP is a very well-run group and I
appreciate the efforts to maintain adherence
To the traditions and concepts of a well-functioning AlAnon meeting.
Sometimes I think there may be some
Benefit to establishing a 'partner' site, for more 'off topic' sharing and
general socializing for members
Who would be comfortable participating. Perhaps something
Like an 'After The Meeting' email group.
Specifically regarding this service position: _____________________________
_________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________
What changes do you NOT want to see occur at ASP? The group functions like
a F2F Alanon meeting
And I would not want to see that change!
In what way do you feel you participate or contribute to the group?
My participation in ASP has been life changing and pivotal in my recovery!
I found my sponsor through this
Group, and also am honored to now have two sponsees within the group. I try
to share daily and follow the guidelines
As much as I know. I also reply privately to many with my ESH because I
feel it's important to share.
How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP?
[refer to http://www.asp-afg.org/ASP/Business/ASP_INFO.htm]
I have been impressed with the quality of this group from the beginning. I
have tried several online groups and after
A month, settled here at ASP as my primary online group.
Do you have technical or other experience that you feel is significant for
this position?
My day job is administrative in IT for a large law firm. Although I am not
a full-blown technology guru, I am fortunate to have
Many skills by virtue of working with technology every day. I also write
and maintain a personal blog, so I have basic skills in publishing and
updating online
Content.
Describe your concept of how much time you have available to serve ASP and
how accessible you are to the other members of the Steering Committee and
the general membership of ASP.
I will make myself available in whatever capacity is needed to
continue the good work that has been done before. My work for this role
will be done in evenings and weekends. I have a personal laptop that I can
take to work to do work on my lunch hour if necessary.
Any thing else that you would like to say . . .
Although I do not have quite the service experience within ASP, I believe I
am a good fit for this role. I am a quick learner and would always put
priority
To the needs of the Webmaster role. Being of service in this way helps my
recovery as I recognize the importance of keeping things going behind the
scenes
So that all members continue to grow in their participation at ASP. This
role would fill my need to be 'needed' in a healthy way!
