Hi! I'm Anne  :)

I am comfortable with donating 50% of our excess funds over prudent reserve to the WSO, to be continued quarterly by the Treasurer. I feel that the WSO does support us at a minimum individually through literature, the Forum, gatherings (I'm completely blanking on what the big Al-Anon get togethers are called! LOL) and I feel that deserves our support.

The rest of it gets a little murky for me - specifically donating to the OLA-IS; does-the-WSO-support-online-AlAnon-or-don't-they; and GSOs in other countries. I've done some poking around on my own as well to try to clarify but without doing some serious searching I feel as if I have only come up with superficial information.


To be honest I had come to a conclusion similar to one of Jerry's (I think it was #2) that I would prefer a little more investigation into this area - specifically the OLA-IS and the GSOs in other countries, before donating to either. And I am not clear that Steve should be the one to take this on. Don't get me wrong, I respect Steve and look for his shares in the meetings. But I think a fresh set of eyes would be really useful here. Maybe it's 2 people - one for OLA-IS and one for GSO's. I also think opening this up to the general membership of the meeting is a fantastic idea. It could give a chance to  those who would like to volunteer an 'one-time-only' commitment - it's not 6 months or 3 years, it's this one project. And it's an exposure to the wider world of Al-Anon.
