Thank you Cyndi, for articulating an excellent explanation of the reasoning behind the qualifications for this particular service position. I too, feel ASP as a whole is better served when we choose to remain true to the process set up by those who've not only gone before us but continue along this same journey.

While I am just in my second year of serving on the SC, I know that for several years, SC members, both current and past, have done double and sometimes triple duty for well beyond established term lengths - because these roles are difficult to fill and keep filled. While filling gaps with the resources we have is certainly a short term option while positions get seated, continuing to operate in this fashion ultimately results in burnout, or Trusted Servants suddenly going MIA. There also becomes a sense of 'expectation' among the membership, that the group will continue to function anyway, because someone will just 'do it'.

The Webmaster is also an Officer of ASP, and therein lies the qualification requirement of term in program, understanding the workings of Alanon as a whole, in addition to having attended ASP Business Meetings. While we could announce the position to the general meeting, we want to avoid having our members electing 'just anyone' in order to fill a spot out of fear that things won't be able to run without it.
