Biz-Pals,

Since the vast majority of our current funds in excess

have been build up over the past 4-5 years with the clear

understanding that the funds in excess of $1,301 were

expected to be donated, I feel that we have been holding

these funds for far too long. Further, holding them or any

part of them (excess funds, not our Prudent Reserve) for

as-yet unapproved and unfunded ideas skirts our responsibility

to make good on our past errors in not having disbursed excess

funds in the first place.

We ought to make amends on these errors - that is make good

on our unpaid debts since we had agreed to make these donations,

just not exactly where they would go - then move forward, and

not continue with these errors in place.

~ ASP agreed by Group Conscience  to make these donations.

~ Members donated knowing excess funds over our P.R. were to be donated.

~ We know that the OLA is not an option as an alternative to the WSO.

~ There are no other options appropriate to an Al-Anon Family Group

[except perhaps the arbitrary choosing of some Area or LDC which have

  their own support structures.]

Also, I don't hear a stalemate in opinions which would indicate a lack

of consensus on these points. I hear from the shares I've received and

which focus on the topic under discussion that most favor donation

of excess funds to the WSO. Perhaps an informal poll of the Business Meeting

members would bring to light whether we are close to consensus on this or how

far away we may be. Then we'd know whether further discussion and possible voting

is warranted.  This is a perfectly legitimate request since we are not using

Robert's Rules, but KBDM (Knowledge Based Decision Making) in our ASP Business

Meeting.

The unanswered question on the table is: To what entity are our donations of funds

in excess of our stated Prudent Reserve go?

Hugs to all,

Jerry
