[Businessmtg] Newcomer packets...

Hi folks, I thought I would toss my experience into the ring here. I did a
stint as a greeter for ASP. We did *not* ask for mailing information, just
a valid email address and how they met the qualifications to belong to a
closed meeting. Once that was given, they were welcomed to the program and
the welcome emails sent out.
I know that I was a greeter two(?) years ago, and a member of this group
for at least six months longer, and this is the first I have heard of new
member packets (and yes, I have participated in all the business meetings
that I know of since then).
Personal opinion:
I would never have joined ASP had I been asked to give a mailing
address...although I am a seasoned member of F2F meetings, I would have
seen anything beyond what was necessary to participate in the meeting a
violation of my privacy. My F2F group does not ask for mailing addresses,
and if they had, I would have run for the door.
I am the CMA (current mailing address) for my F2F group right now, and I
still feel uncomfortable when the quarterly appeal letter goes around with
my full name and address printed on it...as one of the members reminded me,
not everyone who attends meetings is healthy.
