[Businessmtg] Service Encouragement

Biz-Pals,

I'd like to take a moment to encourage newer, but able, ASP

members to begin service to our membership. As ASP Treasurer

for the five years prior to Anne's service I can tell you that

the time requirements of this position are minimal once all

the accounts [bank and PayPal] are set up. Little more than

an hour or two a month is all that it requires.

Checks come in to a P.O. Box, they get deposited and accounted

for on our 7th Tradition register [See member page > 7th Tradition]

and PayPal receipts get transferred into our bank account.

The monthly ASP server bill gets paid automatically on the 1st,

once every 3 months the account balance over our prudent reserve

gets sent to the WSO, and other than that there are few expenses

to write checks for. Once a month a simple report gets sent out.

That's about it. I'm sure Anne, our current treasurer, will be

glad to answer any questions you have regarding this necessary,

but relatively simple service.

For my part I can say that receiving a few checks a month - many

with notes - from ASP members accompanying their checks was quite

a boost. Please consider contributing to the functioning of ASP.

It is much better when fresh members step forward rather than

having them or others pushed under the threat of ASP stumbling

and perhaps faltering. It helps those who serve as much or more

than it does they whom are served. Plus it feels good :-)

Thanks for considering ASP service,

Jerry H., a past ASP Treasurer
