Good Morning Friends,

As you can well imagine, the role of the ASP Treasurer is an important one.
Receiving funds and paying bills to keep ASP running is vital to our
existence.  Jerry, my predecessor, setup procedures that are easy to follow
and easy to transition on our Al-Anon 3 year service rotation cycle.  Once
you have done the leg work to setup a bank account of your choice,
transition Paypal account manager and setup a PO box the rest of your work
falls into place, and you will find that you may spend 2 to 3 hours a month
managing the treasury and participating in Steering Committee discussions
and business meetings.  And best of all you don't need an accounting
background to successfully take on this position.   The time investment is
not a heavy one.  

Much of the work is done electronically, I have listed my routine below:

–I check the post office a couple of times a month, and make deposits to our
bank account.
–I check pay pal at the end of each month and transfer funds to our bank
account at that time.
–I balance our checking account, update our documents and then ask the
webmaster to post the financial register.
–I make a quarterly donation to the WSO.
–I pay our bills—our internet service provider (automatically debited the
first of each month) and our annual post office box fees
–I "pass the basket" monthly (although sometimes it's bi-monthly) 

I am happy to answer any questions you may have.  As those of us who have
done service have learned, Al-Anon service is rewarding, and it has the
added incentive to keep us coming back and to stay engaged with our program.
I will be looking for a new ASP service position in the future and I look
forward to the growth it undoubtedly will offer.

the address you will use to send in shares to the Business meeting.  Please
do not send your business shares to the recovery meeting.

The topic at present is election of a new Treasurer for a 3 year term. 
Anne's 3 year term will be over in March.
We appreciate her service more than words can say!  

Our agenda is:
1.  Announce the position for treasurer is open.

        The treasurer 

    * Administers the 7th Tradition at ASP by Passing the Basket monthly 

    * Accepts donations from ASP members
    * Deposits funds received in a bank account
    * Disburses funds as necessary to pay ASP financial obligations
    * Reports monthly to Steering Committee and Business Committee 2.  Any
member of ASP meeting the qualifications for the position may make
themselves available by providing their Al-Anon resume to
me, melaniemalias-melanie at yahoo.com
    Participation in ASP for one year is required for the treasurer's
position.  Members of ASP who are also members of AA are not
    considered for an officer position.

3.  Please consider applying for the position and do so by February 8th,
2014.

4.  Resumes are posted so that members may ask the candidate(s) questions. 
Questions must be appropriate to Al-Anon. 

     Do not post questions unrelated to election of the Treasurer position.

5.  Q & A period will close on February 15th unless there is an unforeseen
issue to continue the Q & A.

6.  If we do not have more than one member available for the position, the
Chair will entertain a motion to elect the new officer by acclimation, which
will require a vote to affirm such a motion.

7.  The Web Master will create a polling page on the ASP web site for voting
purposes.

8.  Announcement of the polling page will occur.

9.  Discussion will stop while the poll is open.  Business meeting is on
moderated status at this point.

10. The Poll will close at midnight after 3 full days of voting.

11.  Simple majority is required to elect a Trusted Servant at ASP.

12.  Chair announces the outcome to the Business Meeting and the Recovery
Meeting.
