[Businessmtg] another question

I'll throw in a comment that will hopefully clarify the question even
further than Melanie has already.

Yes, it is our policy that no one serve in more than one service position at
a time. So, if the question is about an ASP officer such as the Web Master
being able to serve as a Daily Chair, then the answer is no.

OTOH, if the questions is about someone who is currently a Daily Chair and
interested in serving as an ASP officer such as the Web Master, then then
answer is a bit different.

Because our rotation of leadership is rarely if ever in sync with anything,
we have had occasions when someone was interested in serving at the officer
level but hadn't completed their service as a Daily Chair or Greeter, or
even as another officer position. In those situations, we've looked at the
details of the timing. When is the current service position rotate? When the
current position rotates soon, we've delayed the transition for the new
service position until after the individual has rotated out of their current
position.

I'll use a f2f example: While the practice of not holding more than one
position at a time is a good practice and helps groups/Districts/Areas avoid
problems with dominance, there is no rule in Al-Anon outlawing someone from
holding 27 service positions - except for the Delegate. While I've known
many GRs, DRs, Area Officers as well as Coordinators at all levels to hold
simultaneously hold multiple service positions, Delegates are not allowed
to.

Delegates are elected in the Fall, typically September or October. But, the
newly elected Delegate probably already serving as a DR or Area
officer/coordinator. In fact, some Areas require candidates for Delegate
currently hold such a position to be eligible. However, the newly elected
Delegate will rotate out of or resign from their current service position
before they assume the duties of Delegate in January.

In other words, if someone currently holds a service position in ASP, they
are eligible to make themselves available to serve as an officer, however
they would need to either rotate out of the current position or resign from
the current position before they actually began serving in the new position.

Hugs,
Steve

Subject: [Businessmtg] another question

Since the policies of the meeting say that one person can't hold more than
one service position at a time, would the webmaster be unable to chair one
of the daily meetings?
