Hi folks,

Here's the facts of the situation in chronological order:

Oct 1: The Business Meeting agenda includes finding/selecting a new Web
Master.

Oct 1: Sandie contacted me personally about the Web Master position. After
discussing the details, Sandie informed me that she was interested but
intended to wait and see if someone else made themselves available.

Oct 2: Jane posted " . . . unless someone else steps forward, I might be
interested in the webmaster position . . ."
Jane listed challenges & obstacles to her serving as Web Master.

Oct 3: I responded to Jane's tentative interest in the position.

Oct 4: Jane brought up the ASP policy against any person holding more than
one service position at a time and asked if serving as Web Master would
interfere with serving as a Daily Chair.

Oct 5: I responded to Jane's query about ASP policy:
Paragraph 2: Yes, it is our policy that no one serve in more than one
service position at a time. So, if the question is about an ASP officer such
as the Web Master being able to serve as a Daily Chair, then the answer is
no.
Paragraph 7: In other words, if someone currently holds a service position
in ASP, they are eligible to make themselves available to serve as an
officer, however they would need to either rotate out of the current
position or resign from the current position before they actually began
serving in the new position.

Oct 8: Melanie posted Jane's Al-Anon resume for the Web Master position.

Oct 12: The web site poll application isn't functioning. The List
Administrator is working on it.

Oct 17: Jane wrote to Melanie (ASP Secretary & Business Meeting Chair)
directly noting that: "I'm going to wait until January to start the
webmaster thing regardless. . . "
In other words, Jane informed the Chair that she was not available to serve
as the Web Master until next year. A quick discussion in the Steering
Committee concluded that the Web Master position has been vacant for several
months and ASP needs a Web Master ASAP, therefore Jane's application/resume
for Web Master is effectively withdrawn.

Oct 18: Melanie posted Sandie's Al-Anon resume for the Web Master position.

The bottom line of the situation as I see it is that Jane stood for the
position, but then later disclosed that she had a service conflict that
prevented her from serving as Web Master. Jane chose to continue with her
current service position - quite commendable and a good thing, however that
means that Jane is not available to serve as the ASP Web Master at this
time.

Sandie is available and free of service conflicts, so the appropriate thing
to do is to complete this process of selecting the next ASP Web Master with
Sandie as the only candidate.

Hopefully, this clears the air of the confusion and hard feelings.

Hugs,
Steve
