Being in a rural community for the first year of my AL-Anon, I was not able to attend Al-Anon meetings F2F. I asked well over 5 different women to sponsor me in ASP and all refused. I did get a male sponsor for a few months but it was not a good match.
After I moved, there is a F2F group I attend, but no one there has actually worked all the 12 steps or has a sponsor themselves. This month is my 2 year anniversary and I still don't have a sponsor. I used the ASP group as a whole as my sponsor with OT posts.
To reduce OT posts I feel we would need to assign newbies a sponsor who maybe serves a term? This person would be willing to work with several newbies and answer personal questions and help get acquainted with the program. Maybe like a mentor? OT posts would then not go to group but directly to the mentor/sponsor. When that newbie gets to a F2F and finds a real sponsor then they could move on to that.
