Hi all,
There have been several good options given in this discussion.
I would suggest, when thinking about having a Beginners' Meeting, getting
the Guidelines for Beginners' Meetings (G-2) and read them thoroughly and
maybe even post it on the ASP website #attention newcomers to Al-Anon. It
is a very comprehensive and usable guide for the six suggested meetings. I
was involved in chairing a f2f one for a number of years ... it was very
popular especially for professionals referring their clients to it.
Meeting topics include introducing the basics of Al-Anon as a spiritual
program, not a religious program; attending other meetings; the harm of
gossip in meetings; the importance of anonymity; sponsorship; use of CAL;
and the value of talking to the required old timers who conducted the
meetings both before and after the meetings.
You can always ask for volunteers willing to "talk" to the newbies at ASP
and make that list available to them, i.e. similar to the phone list at f2f
meetings.
In order to create an OL Gentle Reminder situation, you would need a
coordinator who works with your Business Committee and rotating volunteers.
In Al-Anon,
BJ
