I have just read over the documents posted in for our business meeting on KBDM. 

Doing a poll is one of the easiest ways to find if we have any kind of consensus on this issue. It is up to the Chairperson to determine whether or not we have consensus. Just because it does not specifically say that we can or cannot use a poll does not mean that we cannot. 

In a normal business meeting the Chair would at this point ask for a show of hands whether we want to continue discussing, drop the matter or recommend to a committee, thought or task force.
