Many thanks to Apryl and Laura. I completely agree.
And I just want to add that I am thrilled that Laura has taken such an
active approach to her role as Secretary. I believe that those who
take time out of their busy lives to serve in ASP deserve our
gratitude and respect. They also deserve to be treated gently and it
should always be understood that they are non-professionals, learning
as they go.
I am always confused by what is and isn't appropriate in the Business
Meetings and I have been here for awhile. I also transcribed all the
information from the old member site onto the new one and organized
it, so I got very familiar with it... but it's still confusing! KBDM
sounds good on the surface: discuss things, come to a general
consensus, decide what to vote for, and then vote. The problem is that
when a meeting is conducted via individual emails, a discussion takes
a long time and can get REALLY confusing (like it has in this meeting,
imho). So maybe that's why in ASP, we have this provision: "If this
process doesn’t appear to be working properly, the Chairperson may
switch the Business Meeting to the traditional style based loosely on
Roberts Rules of Order."
Laura is the trusted servant who has been selected to chair this
meeting and I will continue to look to her for guidance. If/when it's
time for me to create a poll so that we can vote on this issue, I will
do so.
Thanks and hugs!
