Thanks, Laura, for chairing.
"Discuss how our individual welcome emails swamp new members and may cause them to unsubscribe within a day"
This is the topic that I have been waiting to discuss at this business meeting. I am very grateful for this online meeting. We are blessed with technology that allows us to have access to ESH at any time that we need it on our laptop, tablet, phone. I am particularly grateful that ASP follows the same traditions and meeting practices as a F2F meeting. I think I have been a member for about 3 months now.

That said, I do find the volume of individual emails overwhelming. I joined because I really needed extra support and a safe place to share and receive ESH. Within three days it became clear that I had to set up a rule in my email to have ASP daily emails go to a separate folder. I try to check it twice a day however I am still just unhealthy enough that if there are more than 20 unread in that folder, I have to do something about it. Many time ps I find myself just hitting "mark all read" without actually reading, and then I feel as if I am not listening at a meeting, which feels very disrespectful to those who have taken the time to share. I haven't thought of unsubscribing, so it's not at that point for me....but the volume of daily mail does add to my feeling of unmanageability some days.

I also find that I can't always follow the threads, particularly if there are a number of topics on the go, and if I haven't been in the folder reading regularly, don't feel like I can contribute in a good or on topic way...so I sit silent.

I am looking forward to the ESH of others with regard to how you have managed the volume and been able to contribute to the discussions.

Thanks for letting me share.
Sandy
