[Businessmtg] Service Position - At Large

Hi Everyone:

In answer to Kristen's questions:

1. I "work" my program by attending meetings (f2f and ASP), by reading CAL, by sponsorship, doing service, and by trying to use the principles in all my affairs. Sometimes I don't "work" it as well as I like, but I always have another chance to do better.

2. The service position I have enjoyed most is chairing. The reason is because it forces me to dig into CAL and read it and think about it and share it. Regularly reading CAL is probably the weakest part of my program unless I'm working with a sponsee - then I spend a lot more time reading and looking for ESH and guidance that I'm not giving advice.

3. Reaching agreements in any group, not just large groups, can be challenging. Al-Anon has helped me practice Listen and Learn. I talk less and listen more. Not always having to be right or in charge has helped me really hear what others are saying and I'm not as entrenched in my opinion as I was. Today I find myself really wanting to hear the reason/s someone has a different opinion than I have. I've learned when I feel I have been heard, it is much easier for me to stop hanging on and help reach consensus. I seldom feel like I "lost" anymore.

This all comes from Al-Anon.

Hugs,

Linda
